Gaffney High School, a four year school-2,092 students (33% minorities). 9th/10th grades limited to one elective due to academy concept (English/math labs). AFJROTC enrollment impacted by "credit recovery" classes, further limiting course options. Economy is textile/industrial-based—16.9% unemployment. 46% of students receive free/reduced lunches; 23% of 9th grade failed SY 08-09. Majority of cadets come from single-parent/ aanon-traditional homes causing significant challenges in developing life/academic skills.

UNIT GOALS

1.  Cadet - Cadet 9th grade failure rate 15% less than school average (overall cadet failure rate<=19.55%)--end of 1st semester

2.  Cadet - Improve cadet physical fitness (E2C–Wellness Program assessment percentage) by 70% (cadet average from 44% to 75%)

3.  Schoola-aIncrease "Aviation History" course enrollment 50% (20 (SY 2009-2010) to 30 (SY 2010-2011)) to offset "academy/credit aaaaaaaaaaarecovery"enrollment impact

4.  School - Increase Kitty Hawk Air Society membership 30% (from 24 to 31)

5.  Community - Cadet Corps complete 2050 hours community service for SY 2009-2010 (1550 hrs as of Mar 2010)

6.  Community - Complete seven South Carolina Adopt-a-Highway events for SY 2009-2010 (5 events as of Mar 2010)
